Operation Christmas Child

Last week Hubby and I were able to volunteer at the distribution center for Operation Christmas Child.  Check out this video to learn more about it.
It was only about 5 years ago that I learnt about this awesome ministry and since then we have been donating boxes and volunteering.  We are really lucky to have a distribution center so close to home.
For the past few years we go to the distribution centre and sort through the boxes.  We have to check every box to make sure all monetary donation have been removed (in some countries if children are found with money they can get into a lot of trouble because it is assumed that they stole it).  Then we have to sort through all the gifts that are in the box and make sure there are no war related toys, no sharp items that could hurt the children, make sure all the candy is hard candy and last but not least make sure that all liquid items are removed... the last thing we'd want is for a liquid to break in transportation and ruin a number of boxes.
There are many different ways to give back during the holiday season, this is just one small way to show God's love to children around the world.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and don't forget amidst the hustle and bustle of the season we have many blessings from God to be thankful for.

  1. Hi Christina, I hopped over to your blog via Casey Leigh's linkup. I love Operation Christmas Child! I learned about it several years ago as well, and I think it's such a wonderful program! Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas!
